The concept behind this project is to compare and contrast the art historical lineage of each art movement's artistic visual style to previous movements from the past and to future art movements that evolved afterwards. This should relate to a particular art movement you are interested in or a particular subject related to art. The first thing to do is to start with an idea or premise you would like to present, then you will use example of of previous and later art moments to compare and contrast.

1. You are required to present works from one to three art movements from the historical eras we have studied

2. You must discuss at least 20 images of art works

3. Each of these art movements should have 1-3 examples of art works from that period.

You should have a knowledge of what are the important concerns for each art movement corresponding with each historical era.

When considering which art works to present from it's particular art movements Art Historical Considerations:
Compare each art movement to previous and future art movements.
Compare to other art, artists and art movements of the particular time this work was created.
How did this artwork become influenced from art from the past?
What are the art historic influences from the present culture of that particular time period?
Has the impression of this art changed over time?
What were the concerns or stylistic tendencies of these art movements?
Why is this art or this artist considered important to the history of art?
How did this art fit into the historical and cultural context during the time it was created?
How does this artist's personal biography influence the art that is presented?
What is the physical condition of the artwork? Has this work deteriorated over time?
Has it been restored?
In what part of the world was this art created? How do geographical and regional considerations play into the creation of this art?
How geographical and regional considerations influence the subject matter and stylistic tendencies in this particular work?

General Historical and Cultural Considerations:

How do sociological ideas or considerations (the dynamic as to how humans interact with one another within a society) play into the subject matter of this art?
How does culture in general fix into the equation?
Does this work challenge the societal status quo or reaffirm it?
How does the notion of science and technological progress play into this subject matter?
What did we learn from this and what does it tell us about being human?
Does this art provoke, challenge or reconsider our ideals about moral and social issues?
Does this work support and honor the important social institutions, such as government or the church?
Why was this work possibly disliked or controversial?
Why was this work celebrated when it was created?
What does the work say about the role of the artist in society?
Aesthetic, Perceptual Psychological Qualities Considerations
What aesthetic or visual qualities related to the fundamentals art does this subject contain?
Why do we need or do not need this kind of art?
