Team Leader Essay and Presentation

History reveals many different types of leaders from whom we can learn skills and identify attributes. These leaders are often typified as heroes, teachers, or rulers.

Working in groups of two or three, you will choose one leader from the list below.  You will research and co-write an essayusing a minimum of four scholarly references other than your textbook; only two references can be web-based and they must be peer-reviewed pdf files (Wikipedia and Google do not qualify as scholarly sources). You will research and present the following:

a)    Your leader’s personal biography – personal stories

b)    Your leader’s contributions – accomplishments

c)    Your leader’s effect on others – influence, power and change

d)    Your leader’s personality/leadership style – how they accomplished their work

e)    What surprised you from your research 

You will also conduct a mini-presentation in class (7 minutes) providing highlights of your Leadership research. You will be evaluated on the quality and depth of your research, as well as the organization, brevity and comprehensiveness of your presentation (See Presentation Guide in the class D2L site).

Assignment Formatting 

All assignments will be supported using scholarly research from various sources to explore, learn and apply learning in a variety of settings.

The Management and Human Resource Leadership Department in the School of Business requires the use of American Psychological Association (APA) style for citing references on student assignments requiring scholarly research. 

Assignments must be in Arial 12-point font with spacing 1½ .  No hand written material will be accepted; grammar, punctuation and spelling will be counted toward your mark. 

Assignments for this course will be submitted electronically via D2L’s online dropbox.
