Stress Management:

Please reply on these two below discussions with citations:

1. I truly believe that living under constant stress can damage your health. There are so many health issues related to stress. When I am under stress, I always feel my heart beating. We should definitely learn how to manage our every day stress.

This is a very hard question "Which do you believe have the greatest effect on your life; the acute or the chronic stressors?" I believe the acute ones are very strong but on the other hand short. Personally, there are always interventions we can identify and implement. But they can be easier for some people than others.

2. I would like to think that I'm able to handle stress well. I have quite a few stressors in my life, most of which come up daily. Some examples of my chronic stressors are financial constraints, maintaining a healthy work/life balance, and co-parenting my 6 year old daughter while being newly divorced. My work environment has caused chronic stress, however there are a few acute stressors as well. We are currently undergoing a larger district split. I know that once this project is successfully over much of my stress will be diminished. Both types of stress cause me to have trouble sleeping, and usually trouble eating. I find that if I keep my workout routine during these peaks I can usually see less effects of my stress.

I do believe that stress can have positive outcomes. In reading the first chapter, early on it states " Stress is also positive when it warns us that we are not coping well and that a lifestyle change is warranted if we are to maintain optimal health." chapter 1, page 3. This was a particular passage that resonated with me since my divorce. I found myself wildly unhappy which was affecting my work, personal relationships, and my health. It was clear to me that if I wanted to improve the quality of life for not only myself but my daughter I needed to make a larger change to the chronic stressor in my life, my marriage.
