In particular, professionals don't even seem to be able to agree on the definition(s) associated with the issue or the language that is used to describe the problem(s).

For the purposes of this discussion topic please complete the following:

1. Review your assigned readings and respond to the following questions:

A) Which term do you think best explains the experiences of an older woman being abused by her partner: older battered woman, elder abuse or another term? Please explain.

B) Is it important to differentiate between these two terms? Why or why not?

C) Some of your learning resources mention APS and the services they provide. Keep in mind that some domestic violence shelters also serve older survivors. Under what circumstances might these two groups share the same client?

D) If these two groups share the same client, what might be some problems when they try to collaborate?
