Why rocks on his hands?

 

In this picture I cannot determine the reason of taking a pick to the kid lifting some rocks in what is seems a remote area. There might be a many reasons for taking the picture but is unclear and very difficult to determine.

 It is possible that the kid in the image have some of an isolated life condition since there is no other kids around, yet this cannot be true because he might be in a trip with his parents.

On the other hand the kid in the picture has the rocks on his hands which indicates that he is cleaning his back yard, but that might not be true his cloth looks too clean to working in a dirty area.

Perhaps, he is on a campaign trip with his parent, but this is not a sufficient evidence because the area looks unlivable and not pleasant for a campaign site.

Anyhow, I can't find anything in the picture that would contradict that idea. But I can't take a position.  I could use this at the end of the paper, and state that although I can't find anything to contradict it, I still don't know for sure that this is why they have those expressions.
