Short answer essay questions-Please answer four of the following five questions. I expect roughly 100 words per essay.

1. a) Develop a hypothesis or empirical generalization that meets the criteria for a good question per course discussion, your text and posted slides. B) Identify the independent variable and the dependent variable. 3) Write one or two sentences on how you would conduct your study.

These methods include, but are not limited to surveys, field research, qualitative methods, secondary data or focus groups.

2. Choose from the following group of theorists and describe how the intersection of history and autobiography shaped their idea. In order to do this you need to be familiar enough with their ideas to describe them as part of the answer. Weber, Comte, Marx, Robert Merton, Emile Durkheim.

3. Describe five agents of socialization for Faith in the film Wo Ai Ni Mommy. For each agent provide a brief synopsis of how they socialized and how this made her "fit" into her current social situation.

4. a) Describe the difference between a value and a belief or viewpoint. b) Describe whether you hold two of the same values (or not) as one of the presidential hopefuls and c) describe how each value shapes your viewpoint on a social issue. You outside of the candidate listed in the assignment as the field has shifted over the past few weeks.

5. a) Describe the importance of language for identity, and the role of language in creating and sustaining boundaries between groups and social inequality. b) use concrete examples from one of the following: Wo Ai Ni Mommy, Straight Out of Compton, or your participation in a religious organization to illustrate your understanding of these concepts.
