Select TWO quotes from EITHER The Epic of Gilgamesh, Plato's Trial of Socrates, or Sophocles' Antigoneand ONE contrastive and/or complementary quote from another of these three readings (for a total of THREE quotes) to support your answer to ONE of the questions below. Remember: you are writing choosing ONE question, Two quotes from ONE reading and another quote from one of the remaining two texts. You must demonstrate comprehensive understanding of both texts you choose and refer to areas of the text beyond the quotes chosen. If you feel a Daodejing quote would be helpful, you may add one as an optional fourth quote. Time is of the essence, though, so only add a fourth quote if you think it's really going to help you share your viewpoint.
You will also give a THESIS statement. The thesis statement will illustrate your view of the issue. Your thesis must indicate that you have taken the authors'/texts' views into account.
You may use the "first person" in this essay-I want to know what you really think. But, be sure to illustrate that you are clear about what the texts have to say. I'll be able to tell.
Make meaningful points, and do not ever use dictionary definitions. These are YOUR definitions and POV in dialogue with the TEXTS definitions and POV. These texts and YOU deserve to have meaningful discussion.
