Response Guidelines

Read your peers' discussion posts and respond to at least two of them. What questions might you ask your peers to help them critically analyze their articles? What would you need to know to decide if their articles are valid and reliable? How could you help them integrate Bloom's Taxonomy and the Elements of Thought to continue developing their critical thinking skills?

Be sure to provide substantive responses to help your peers build on their learning and reference any relevant assigned readings, additional resources, or professional literature to support your response.

The point of view being considered is to determine if sensorimotor enrichment is an effective treatment for Autistic children or not. There are many other different types of treatments that could be looked at but in this study they are focusing on sensorimotor enrichment compared to a control group. The main concept is that sensorimotor enrichment does work as an effect treatment for children with Autism in the age range of 3-12. The data determined that 42% of the enriched group and only 7% of the control group saw significant improvement during the study (Woo, & Leon, 20103). When I begin my research project I will want to pair diet alteration with different forms of physical and mental treatments as a well to determine what the best coupling of treatments are, or if they work better separately. By using the information from this study I know that sensorimotor enrichment is one of the physical treatments that will be on my radar, because it has worked in previous studies. There is no way to determine what my results will be if I implement this treatment in my practice. There is a however a favorable chance that the treatment will work whether on its own or paired with another treatment type.

Bloom's taxonomy can be my guided steps to take in my research study. I will finish going through old studies and compare the information that they have on what other treatments could be paired with a diet treatment. I will make sure that I understand the significance of the data that the other studies achieved. I will then apply the different forms of treatments to the participants in my study to determine which individually or paired up treatments work best in the treatment of Autism. After beginning the study if any of the beginning data is showing absolute uselessness or harm to any of the participants, if either of these occur those treatment s will be eliminated immediately. Then I may have to rework the study to accommodate for the missing treatments. Once the study has concluded I will have to analyze all of the data, if there is anything that appears again to not be working I will remove it. If there are treatments that are extremely successful I may look at pairing them together to study again. When all experimentation is completed the data is analyzed one last time and then interpreted into results that are easy to understand for others who will read about the study. I will finish my research article have it turned in for others to review and then eventually have it published if others find it as relevant to the subject as I do.
