RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HEALTH AND HAPPINESS-

I. ABSTRACT

A. Purpose

1. To examine the influence and effect that exercise and food nurtition/diet have on the general happiness of a subject.

B. Hypothesis

1. People on a more balanced and nutritive diet will result in a higher happiness index than those who eat too much junk food or simply don't focus on their diet.

2. Exercise positively correlated with happiness. Those who engage in occassional exercises are more mentally active and have a bigger general well-being than those who don't engage in many physiscal activities.

II. INTRODUCTION

A. Foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and afatty acids are not only incredibly healthy, but has also been proven increase happiness, lessen symptoms of depression, and quell anxiety.

1. Pleasurable foods don't necessarily make us happier (junk food, sugar, etc)

a. Sugar - addiction - rats experiment (Princeton University study)

b. David A. Kessler, former head of the FDA has a name for these calorie-rich, easily-digestible food, "hyperpalatable"; meaning they don't only go down easy, but they are engineered to make you want to eat more by triggering a powerful reward conditioning stimulus. Yes, like an addiction.

a. Calcium, Chromium, Folate, Iron, Magnesium, Omega-3, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Zinc

B. Exercise research and surveys that deal with the correlation of exercise and your general well-being.

III. METHOD

A. Subjects

1. A combination of different groups that have already been examined, surveyed, and analyzed by experts in the field.

B. Instruments

1. A very high number of surveys and research studies made by professionals and universitites are available online, a selection of these will be collected and examined to reach conclusions.

C. Procedure

1. Surveys and research made by professionals as well as experiments already conducted and analyzed will be collected from online reliable sources and will be examined and analyzed by myself.

D. Design

1. Two or three group design (depending on depending on survey or research being used.)

E. Key Variables

1. Independent Variable = Food Nutrition and Exercise

2. Dependent Variable = Levels of happines and general well-being

F. Ethics

1. The rights, privacy, and confidentiality of subjects will be strictly mantained at all times.

2. All gathered reasearch will be properly cited and given credit to the original conductor.

IV. RESULTS

A. The effect that both exercise and food nutrition/diet have on happiness and general well-being will be calculated.

B. Either relevant tables and charts will illustrate findings

V. DISCUSSION

A. Will interpret and explain the data within the framework of prior research (compare and contrast). Will describe possible factors influencing the findings.

B. Explain the extent to which the hypotheses were supported

C. Suggest future research topics.
