Reflection Assignment

Answers to each of these questions should be typed. You will be expected to copy and paste excerpts from previous writing assignments (or re-type excerpts) in order to answer certain questions. This document should be stapled, and this page acts as your cover sheet.

Answer ALL questions thoroughly, providing sufficient evidence of reflection, critical thinking, and self-analysis. Choose two excerpts from your work this semester (200 words or less per excerpt), one excerpt representing an aspect of your writing that has been improved or enhanced this semester and one excerpt representing an area in which you still need to grow and develop as a writer. Write one well-developed paragraph per excerpt.

One paragraph should reflection upon your improved/enhanced qualities as a writer, and one paragraph should reflection upon the areas in which you need further growth.

Select one assignment from this semester in ENG 101 that you are most proud of (an excerpt is not necessary for this one), describe the assignment, and discuss why you take the most pride in your work on this assignment.

Note: this may not necessarily be what you consider your very best work, and there may be other reasons you feel pride in this work.

Regarding the writing process (pre-writing, drafting, revising, edition), discuss how this class has impacted your own writing process. Consider the following questions. What have you learned about the writing process? What aspects of your writing process have been improved this semester, and what areas in your writing process might need further development?

Describe how your grammar, mechanics, usage, or punctuation has been improved or enhanced as a result of your completion of ENG 101. Provide three to five examples of errors you made in one of these areas on an essay or another assignment in this course and show what you did to revise or edit those errors.

Discuss three to five specific ways you will apply the knowledge and skills addressed in ENG 101 to current or future college courses or to your future profession. Feel free to provide examples from the current semester in which you have applied knowledge and skills addressed in ENG 101 to courses or situations outside the writing class.

In a paragraph addressed to a future student, discuss three actions this future student should take in order to have a successful and beneficial semester in ENG 101.
