Question: In accounting if information is to be useful it has to be trusted. Stakeholders rely on accurate, trustworthy information on which to base their decisions. The role that ethics plays in our study of accounting is huge. The big accounting scandals such as Enron and WorldCom resulted in Congress passing the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) to help curb financial abuse.
