Question 1:

Explain how societal upheavals coinciding with periods of intense change(such as the move from the agrarian age to the industrial age, or the move from the industrial age to the information age) affected sexual politics and sexual norms. Identify the nature of each upheaval, putting it in a full context using periodization and methodologies discussed in class. Give examples of each period and how each affected sexual norms. Give examples of the changes, who the major player were, and how this is explained by the theories that you have learned in class and your readings.

Discuss two examples of moral panics, including at leastone proposed by Levine. Define what a moral panic is, explain the central themes of the particular panics you have chosen:what/who was involved, when/where it occurred, why it happened (what factors existed in society that brought it about), and how it relates to the overall topic of sexuality. Make sure to address how these moral panics were influenced by societal change, and the consequential anxiety of such changes.

Trace one theme/concept we have covered in class that relates to sexuality (gender, reproduction, childhood, masculinity, non-normative sexuality,etc.) throughout the time periods covered in the course (Agrarian to Information Age), and discuss some of the effects that periods of intense societal change had upon your chosen topic. Give examples of change/differences/similarities over time, and analyze them according to the methodologies covered in class. Be sure to cite specific examples from the course readings/lectures/PowerPoints, and avoid generalizations.
