Q. Explain Pauli Exclusion Principle?

When assigning electron configurations, it is essential to consider the two important principles concerning electrons in orbitals:

  • No more than 2 electrons can fit into a single orbital
  • If 2 electrons are in the same orbital, they must have opposite spins (ms = +1/2 for one and -1/2 for the other)

A law known as the Pauli Exclusion Principle explains how these same criteria are obeyed in assigning quantum numbers to a given electron. The Pauli Exclusion Principle States: No two electrons can have the exact same set of four quantum numbers n, l, ml, and ms.
