Process Post #2: Book Review Presentation Pre-Writing

1. In 200-250 words, answer the following questions about the book you have chosen from the course booklist:

- What is this book trying to acheive and how does it acheive it?

- In what ways has this book caused you to shift your thinking?

- What do you think OSU students could learn from reading this book?

- Who might have arguments with the claims in this book and what might those arguments be?

2. In 100-150 words, answer the following. As you try to convince an audience of you classmates that this book is THE book that every student entering Ohio State should have to read:

- How will you appeal to the pathos of the audience?

- How will you appeal to the logos of the audience?

3. In 100-150 words, address the following. Presenting opposing points of view and then countering those points is not only a great way to build your ethos (because it shows you have considered multiple viewpoints before coming to your conclusion), it is also an essential part of persuasive writing at the college level.

- Who might argue against requiring OSU students to read this book and what might their arguments be?

- How can you counter their claims?
