Process analysis: The starting and developing of the Awakening Movement had been affected by Europe in many ways, at the same time, has its own internal causes. Even though the Awakening Movement could somehow considered as a part of the European Enlightenment, but I think it was still a religious movement in general. Back to the year 1734, the Awakening Movement was in the budding stage. At that time, the enlightenment thinkers' philosophy were not wildly introduced on the new continent. I surprisingly found out that the basic idea of Individualism was proclaimed by clergymen. Religious reformers such as George Whitefield, Jonathan Edward and Gilbert Tennent started to advocate the religious spirit that based on piety and inner love to God. For the first time, people no longer need to totally judged by churches. Everyone could find a connection with God and Jesus without doubt from others. Now at least every person could open a small crack in between the incontestable authorities. With the gentle breeze of freedom blew into people's mind, their souls were able to grow toward a bright path. Account to the preliminary works of religions, not so long the Enlightenment philosophies wiped through America like a tornado. Otherwise, the Awakening Movement has a religious core and Humanism extensions.

Division and classification: It is critical to have all the quotes organized, so that they will not affect the idea development. In the third paragraph, I listed the five key elements of The Declaration of Independence sentence by sentence, made them present as different clauses. The list had got The Declaration of Independence's main idea summarized, so the reader could spend less time on read the quotes and quickly understand my point.

Analysis of Cause and/or Effect: To better explain the origins of the Awakening Movement, I have to explore the prime cause of the historical event. In the second paragraph of my essay, I introduced the brief status of the religion in America. I found that even though the Catholic and Christian were popular and well accepted by local citizens, but most of them seldom went to churches. The reason was simple: there were no priests and churches in many places. Since at that time, construction works were not as easy as they are right now. The number of churches were increasing so slow that religion propagators were worry about people losing their believes. Because the churches could not wildly spread God's gospel, some clergies started to pin their hopes on people's inner motivation. Those people soon became the religious reformers, who announced that religion did not need to be subjected to churches. Their debate with conservative clergies was the very original cause of the Awakening Movement.

Conclusion:

In my rhetorical analysis essay, I analyzed the appeals and strategies that were used in my previous essay, The "Great" Awakening. The essay has introduced the Awakening Movement in America, analyzed the movement's advantages and limitations. Generally speaking, the essay is a research-oriented essay. There were only a small amount of emotional description in the last paragraph. Beside that, there are no more emotional descriptions. The essay contains a lot of quotes from different resources and mostly used Ethos and Logos appeals, which makes it read creditable and logical. Because the author's purpose was to get a high score on his history class, the essay was mainly wrote for his history professor, which makes its words lack of variety.
