In some cultures, it is common to have children sleep in the room or bed as their parents. These practices can arise out of necessity, such as a lack of space, or out of cultural values. Do you know anyone who had a "family bed"? What were their reasons for having a "family bed"? How did your parents deal with bedtime? Were you expected to be self-sufficient and stay in your own room, or were they open to "bed hopping"? Do sleep practices affect family relationships and the emotional development of children?
