Problem- Differential pulse polarography was used in past research to determine the concentration of an organomercury compound (hydroxymercuribenzoate, HMB) in solution. A 10.0 mL aliquot of the sample solution plus 100 mircroliters distilled water yielded a peak current of 2.75 microamps at a potential of -0.340 V vs Ag/AgCl. To the sample was added 100 microliters of 0.00483 M "HMB" in solution. After mixing , the scan was repeated, yielding a peak of 6.42 microamps at the same potential.
