Primary Source Analysis.

Attached are your three options for the primary source analysis. Primary sources are real documents, rather than textbooks, or modern discussions about important events.

You have three documents to choose from:?The Religious Peace of Augsburg. ?The Treaty of Westphalia (actual text)? John Wesley Thoughts on the Slave Trade?Please choose one and answer the following questions about it...

1. What was the author's purpose in writing this document?

2. What is the most important information in the document? Why do you think it is?important?

3. Has this document changed the way that you understand the Reformation/Discovery?of the Americas/ Slave trade? Explain why or why not.

4. Why is this document important? Why are we still reading it several centuries after it?was written?

You could write your answers as an essay, or you could use the four questions above as sub- headings to help organize your answers. I am looking for a paragraph in answer to each question, more than just a sentence or two.

I am also looking for your own analysis and thoughts on the document you chose. Using two or three additional sources would also help you to talk more about the background and context in which the document was written.
