Police service is a service that is entitled with the obligation of maintaining law and order in this great country of America with impartiality according to the rules and regulations that govern the force. However, there are a lot of issues that the ordinary citizens feel need to be addressed in order to assure them this impartiality. Corruption in the police force is rampant to the extent that some criminals continue to freely threaten the freedom of citizens while minor offenders and some innocent Americans are the ones that face the law because of prejudice and discrimination in the law enforcement units in the country. Everywhere in the country, citizens' reports shows cases of discrimination of the minority groups in the delivery of police offers' duties. Studies and researches by several researchers on matters criminal justice and its relation to ethnicity has found astonishing evidence on the existence of corruption and ethnic discrimination in the police service of the country.

Research shows a lot of discrimination from our police officers when conducting arrests across the country and lots of traces of monetary corruption. The public mostly from the two ethnic groups namely the African Americans and Hispanics seems always uncomfortable with the way the police service in the country treats them when conducting searches on them. A recent research by Angelis and Kupchik shows that African Americans are mostly prone to searches in public places in violent ways. African Americans are usually connected to drug use and trafficking in a way that makes them more prone to these searches. The main question remains why the police conduct these searches in a violent ways and mostly to this ethnic group. Is it ethnic profiling and discrimination or involvement in corrupt deals with the white group in the country? (Angelis & Kupchik, 2007)
