Paper: I Love Lucy

For your paper, I would like for you to pick one of the following topics and write a 3-4 page paper:

1) Was Lucy a feminist or just an example of female stereotypes? Include specific evidence and some counter arguments. Conclude with your own evaluation.

2) What was the significance of her marriage, on screen and off? Consider the way she and Desi Arnaz interacted, their work, and their different backgrounds. You might also consider how these issues have changed or stayed the same.

3) How did Lucy redefine what it meant to be a t.v. celebrity? Consider the way her real life and t.v. life intersected.

4) What was the lasting impact of the show? Give specific examples of later shows, ideas, or forms of entertainment that were influenced by I Love Lucy.
