Option #1

Your first option allows you to consider exactly what a scene is-specifically in terms of metal. This unit we have been to a metal concert, read several articles, and talked and wrote about scenes in various places, including Dayton, Akron, and Cleveland. For this option, I would like you to define what a metal scene is. To do this, you may use any of the people, scholarship, or experiences we have had during this semester. You may certainly incorporate quotes or paraphrases (done correctly in MLA format) as well as any of the other events or experiences you have had over the past several weeks. What I don't want to see is a sentence definition. Incorporate specific extended examples from the readings or from the guest speakers or the concert at Oddbody's. A good definition will bring in a variety of components to help the audience clearly understand what a metal scene is. The response should be 2-3 pages, typed, double-spaced in Times New Roman or a similar font.

Option #2

Your second option is one that is a bit more creative in nature. For this one you will write a 2-3 page vignette (story). In the story you must clearly let your reader see and understand what a metal scene is. You can do this in many different ways-through dialogue, description, characters interacting together, the setting, what is going on around the characters, etc. Your audience is someone who does not know anything about metal or metal scenes, but they love to read and analyzes short stories. They should be able to explain what a scene is by the end of your story.

Length: 2-3 pages.
