Chapter 9 discusses motivation as it relates to "hunger." Abraham Maslow ranked physiological needs as the most important in his pyramid because it needs to be satisfied first.

Based on what you have read in your book, please answer the following:

1.) Why is it so important to tackle physiological needs (like hunger) first - before any other needs such as love or self-esteem?

2.) How might a probation officer deal with hundreds of unemployed ex-offenders coming out of prison - knowing that physiological needs are so vital for success? Be creative in your answer...how might the officers find employment faster for these individuals - knowing that food, water, and shelter are the most important things for success?
