Pre-lab - Experiment
1. Write an arrow pushing mechanism for the reaction below.
2. Generate a 1H NMR prediction table as well as a 13C NMR prediction table for product "I". The 13C NMR table only needs to have labels for carbons and predictions about chemical shift ranges.
3. Propose two possible products with molecular weight 360 g/mol that could be formed during this reaction. Show mechanisms for formation of each.
4. Purpose of the lab.
5. Reaction table. Do not worry about the millimoles of clay you are using.
a. The molecular weight of your product is 360.
b. Calculate the theoretical yield.
6. Clear procedure with a numbered list of steps as well as space for TLC plate data and other important observations.
