Make-up History Assignment

Write five separate three-page essays in response to each one of these questions. This means each essay ends somewhere on page three. I do not mind if there is only one word on page three, but I want two full pages of text at least.

Question One:

Explain the reforms accomplished by the progressive movement. You should cover grass roots reforms, electoral reforms, and the reforms by the federal government from the Teddy Roosevelt and Wilson administrations.

Question Two:

Explain the reasons why the United States entered WWI, how WWI changed warfare, how WWI was fought on the home front in the United States, and the nature of the peace proposals and peace treaty that ended the war.

Question Three:

Explain the events from the 1930's that led to WWII, how the Allies defeated the Axis in WWII, and how the war was fought on the American home front.

Question Four:

Explain the causes and effects of the Great Depression and the actions taken by the First New Deal and the Second New Deal that attempted to end the Depression.

Question Five:

Describe the changes in American society, consumer culture, popular culture, and business that changed in the 1920's.

You could write a book on each one of these questions, but you do not need to do that. Simply write as intelligently as possible in response to the question in the space provided.

If the question has three parts you should write a page on each. If the question has two key parts you should divide the essay between the two.

Type each essay using a 12-point font, double-spacing, and one-inch margins.

Put your name, date, the information of the class you attend, and the question on a separate cover page for each essay.

Do not use any quotations or footnotes at all in the essays.

Do not copy sentences directly from the book. This will result in a failing grade for the assignment. Everything needs to be in your own words.

The class textbook contains all the information you need to write the essays. You are not allowed to use any source besides the textbook.
