Literature review (3 pages) Find three articles on the same topic in one or more scholarly sociological journals. The articles should use at least two different methods in answering the same broad substantive question.

The topic should be one of interest to you since you will also write a research proposal on the same topic. Your literature review will have the following elements:

(1) Description of the topic of research, the methodology, and the key findings of each article;

(2) Discussion of the basic assumptions underlying the methodology in each article and of the limitations of each method;

(3) Assessment of why or why not the authors reach different conclusions.

Research proposal (5 pages)Write a research proposal on a sociological topic of your choice. You will use the Literature Review assignment as a building block to your proposal. Your research proposal will have the following basic sections:

1) Research question (including significance of your proposed study to our understanding of the social world);

2) Literature review;

3) Detailed hypotheses;

4) Methodology (including any human subjects issues);

5) Expected results;

6) Conclusions.
