Directions

1. Purchase a five-subject college ruled notebook, to be used exclusively as your weekly journal.

2. Write your name (last, first) and "HIST 113" on the cover of your weekly journal.

3. For each individual reading assignment, prepare one page (and only one page) of notes according to the format below:

Write the Author and Title of the reading at the top of the page, then copy and respond to the following three prompts:

a. Summary (Summarize this reading one concise sentence)

b. Argument (Describe what argument(s) are made or implied in this text in 2-3 sentences)

c. Reflection (Write a paragraph relating this source to the major themes of this course, and add at the end any notes or citations from the text that you want to keep for future reference)

4. If you have more than one assignment on a given day, prepare one page for each
reading.
