INSTRUCTIONS: Write a paragraph each in the following areas. (Each paragraph is worth up to 3 points):

1) ROLE MODELS (Process). Choose a character and analyze his/her ability to influence a change in the community. What is the person's motivation? Does he/she provide a negative and/or positive influence?

2) SELF IDENTITY (Definition/Classification). Choose a character (different than the character chosen in Question 1) and analyze him/her as an example of a type of "pint a participant." Identify the character's sense of self and choice of methods to live the life he/she envisions. Finally, analyze the results of his/her method.

3) GENDER STEREOTYPES (Cause & Effect with Compare/Contrast). Choose a significant event in the book. What is the socially-based cause or effect of the action concerning the possible gender influences placed upon a character? In other words, does a specific character or group of characters behave in a manner that is an indication of social pressure on gender? Analyze in relation to the movie Omar or any other reading from this semester.
