Instructions: On a new page of your research journal, together compose a formal annotated bibliography entry for the web source that you chose to summarize and evaluate for reliability and relevance in your last journal entry (Number 5 of RJ12). This web ann bib entry will be due at the earliest by the beginning of class Friday, March 10. However, you may take class time Friday to work on your entries. But try to submit them by the end of class. On the other hand, if you need longer to work on this assignment, the latest I will accept web ann bib entries is Wednesday, March 15. Also, Friday is a workshop day, so once you submit your entry, you are free to go. Have a great spring break!

Expectations for the Web Annotated Bibliography Entry: For this annotated bibliography entry, include the following 4 points of information:

Bibliographic Entry: Begin with the bibliographic information correctly formatted according to MLA Eighth Edition style guidelines.

General Summary: In 300 words, provide an objective summary of your source. Your summary must include the source's thesis, intended use, and all of its main ideas. Signal phrases must be used often, as well. Use very few details, quotations, and paraphrases, if used at all.

TRAAP Evaluation: In 200 words, provide an overall evaluation of your web source's quality in terms of credibility / reliability. Credibility or reliability does not include relevance. Your evaluation must include a definitive, overall judgement as to whether your source is of good or bad quality in terms of credibility. Your definitive, overall judgement must be stated in the first sentence of your evaluation (example: The web article, "Anxiety in Teens," is a credible source of information). Also, you must include reasons for your overall judgement (example: one reason the article is reliable is because of its strong authority). Finally, include specific examples from your article supporting the reasons you give (example: For example, the article was published in Psychology Today, an online academic journal. This journal has a reputation for publishing quality, scientific information that is up to date. Academic researchers and general readers alike can trust the information printed in this journal largely on account of its great reputation). When citing reasons for your judgement as to the source's reliability, explain in your own words how your example supports the reason you are giving in support of your judgement. The judgements you make of the web source must be based on TRAAP criteria. However, do not write about all TRAAP elements in your evaluation. Only write about the TRAAP criteria you used to form your overall judgement or reasons. If you need a refresher on TRAAP, refer back to the TRAAP model in Lesson 2 of this Google Doc.
For this ann. Bib. entry, include a second paragraph in the evaluation portion. In this paragraph, address the web source's relevance to your project. Your topic sentence of this paragraph should state your claim as to whether the source is or is not relevant to your research issue / question. From there, offer reasons and examples in support of your claim just as you were instructed to do in your previous paragraph. (that is, proving the argument made in the topic sentence).

Names: Place your full names at the end of this entry. After typing your last word in your second and final paragraph in the evaluation portion of your entry, type your names.

I will try to get them to you before then, but you'll probably receive your grades for your Article Ann. Bib. Entries when you return to class from the break.

Evaluation:
*I will be grading your Web Ann. Bib. Entry based on the quality of the citation, summary, and evaluation.
MLA: Correct MLA citation is especially important with web sources, so more points will be lost for MLA errors. Your citation must follow Eighth Edition MLA style guidelines.

Summary: Your summary must include the source's thesis, intended use, and all of its main ideas. Signal phrases must be included, and very few, if any, details should be used.

Evaluation: Your evaluation must include an overall judgement as to the source's credibility or reliability, reasons, examples, and usage of TRAAP. This particular web ann bib entry must also include a second paragraph addressing the web source's relevance to the research issue / question. This paragraph must include a clear topic sentence indicating whether the source is or is not relevant to the research project, followed by reasons and examples illustrating your source's relevance to your research issue or lack thereof.
