Individual Assignment: Children's Literature Timeline and Paper

• Review this week's assigned readings.
• Read the rubric posted under Class Materials for the Individual Assignment. Make sure you cover all elements.

• Prepare a timeline that illustrates the history of children's literature in Western culture, using at least five key milestones (hint: milestones are not periods of time; milestones are events).
• prepare a 700- to 1,050-word paper after you prepare the timeline in which you do the following:

o Describe the major trends or developments, including social functions, of children's literature in various times and cultures.
o Relate the timeline developments to folk literatures described in Ch. 9 of the text.
o Discuss the role of historical children's literature and folk literature in a pluralistic society. 

• Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
• Use specific titles of children's literature and quotations from those works (do not rely on others' assessments).
• Cite a minimum of 2 sources.
