In Chapter 20 of Thank You for Arguing, the author lists a number of literary terms that can seem a bit overwhelming at first. Choose at least two of the following terms and define them in your own words:

-Metaphor

-Synecdoche

-Metonymy

-Hyperbole

-Irony 

Next, I would like to see you practice using two of the tools. 

For example, if I was writing a paper about addiction in my community, I could use a metaphor and call it a double-edged sword. I could use hyperbole and state that addiction took over every fiber of his being. Write at least two sentences using two of the tools listed above. We will share these in class, so do your best work!
