In any career you pursue, the skill of presenting yourself and your ideas will play an important role. Whether in writing, in person, across the conference room, by phone, or across continents, people need to be sold on you as much as they are on your ideas.

Part 1

Revise and finalize the rough draft of the 1,050- to 1,400-word paper you worked on in Week 4 by making corrections from your instructor and any other edits you think appropriate. Ensure that you have included the following:

  • A strong thesis statement with three, clear, non-overlapping  main points.
  • Support for your claims with credible references, using a minimum of three peer-reviewed sources

Ensure that your final paper uses correct grammar and punctuation. A variety of sentence structures should be demonstrated, as well as appropriate essay and paragraph structure.

Format your assignment according to appropriate course-level APA guidelines.

Save your file as your firstnameFinalDraft.

Submit your final corrected paper to the Assignment Files tab.

Part 2: Presentation

Create a 7- to 10-slide presentation using Microsoft® PowerPoint® to accompany the highlights of your paper.

Format your references consistent with appropriate course-level APA guidelines.

Follow the Instructions for PowerPoint Presentation.

PowerPoint Presentation

In a relatively short paper, when we understand the premise or main idea of it, we should be able to talk about it (our premise and the main support/proof for it) without looking at our paper. That is also possible with longer papers, of say, 20 + pages. We should have that kind of clear understanding of the main idea of our paper for this class, and we want to show it in a PowerPoint presentation.

Please prepare a PowerPoint presentation for your paper, but do not start it until you have finalized your paper, which should be after you read my comments in your Week 4 first drafts. Those drafts will be returned by the end of Thursday for on time papers and the end of Friday for late papers.

Notes: Remember that in presentations you want to show only the main points up on the screen. For slides 3, 4, and 5, prepare notes of no more than five sentences to explain each comparison/contrast. You want to learn summary skills, so focus only on the main issues about each point.

Keep the reader's eye in mind and use white space, colors, bolds, underlines, and font and font size accordingly. Also, keep the elements (white space, colors, bolds, underlines, and font and font size) you use consistent throughout.

Have fun.

Slide 1: Title of Presentation (only title with your name)

Slide 2:  Thesis with three main points. Use no more than two sentences

Slide 3:  First comparison/contrast point. Show the similarities and/or differences between the two subjects according to the first main point. Need speaker notes for this slide. Remember that the speaker notes are just for you to speak from. The audience will not see them up on the slide.

Slide 4: Second comparison/contrast point. Show the similarities and/or differences between the two subjects according to the second main point. Need notes for this slide. Remember that the speaker notes are just for you to speak from. The audience will not see them up on the slide.

Slide 5: Third comparison/contrast point. Show the similarities and/or differences between the two subjects according to the third main point. Need notes for this slide. Remember that the speaker notes are just for you to speak from. The audience will not see them up on the slide.

Slide 6:  Conclusion

Slide 7:  References

Save your file by putting your first name first then PowerPoint
