In an experiment that was measuring absorbance at 590nm, I placed a barley water extract and starch in a spectrometer and with 1 drop of the barley water and starch i got a reading of .477nm. I believe that the spectrometer is picking up the amylase enzyme in this mixture but I am second guessing myself. Is that the molecule that is being detected by the spectrometer?
