Read the poem by Gwendolyn Brooks entitled "The Bean Eaters, performing a literary analysis of the poem.

In a one (1) page essay, use three (3) conventional elements of literature to help you develop a literary analysis of your own on Brooks' "The Bean Eaters." Remember that a literary analysis is not a personal reaction to the poem. Instead, it is an argument made about it. Assert a main claim (thesis) about the poem, supported by quotations from the poem itself. Be sure to use quotation marks when lifting directly from the poem. Make sure your essay has an introduction, one or two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. 

Poem 

They eat beans mostly, this old yellow pair. 
Dinner is a casual affair. 
Plain chipware on a plain and creaking wood, 
Tin flatware. 

Two who are Mostly Good. 
Two who have lived their day, 
But keep on putting on their clothes 
And putting things away. 

And remembering.... 
Remembering, with twinklings and twinges, 
As they lean over the beans in their rented back room that 
Is full of beads and receipts and dolls and cloths, 
Tobacco crumbs, vases and fringes
