In a chem 232 lab, a student extracted trimyristin from nutmeg following the procedure outlined the organic chemistry manual. In his lab report this student reported the following observations: (a) an observed melting point of 55.7-57.1(degree celcius); and (b)and based upon the weight of recrystallized trimyristin, a percent isolation of 113.7%. The accepted melting point of trimyristin is 55.9-56.7( degree celcius)
(a) state briefly and discuss the one major problem with the experimental results this student has reported.

(b) According to the procedure outlined for the above experiment, diethyl ether was the assigned extraction solvent. However, one semester, diethyl ether was not available ,so the stockroom made three other solvents available. These solvents were methanol(methyl alcohol),acetone, and hexane . Rank these three solvents from the best to worst as a substitute for dethyl ether for extracting trimyristin from nutmeg. Explain your rankings

(c) Two students were at the stage of their laboratory work where they were to remove the diethyl ether extracting solvent. Student A heated her flask of diethyl ether and trimyristin in a warm bath[~40 degrees celcius] and under vacuum[ the house vacuum operated at~100mm Hg(torr)]. Student B was only able to heat his flask of diethyl ether and trimyristin in a warm water bath [~40 degrees celcius] as his vacuum source was inoperable that day. Student A completed the solvent removal rocedure much more quickly than student B. Provide a sufficiently detailed explanation for why student A was able to remove the solvent from his sample quickly than student B
