Hula Research Paper Assignment- write a short (2 to 3 pages, typed, double-space, 12 point font) research paper that contains information about the Hula dance form.
Discuss the Hula dance form, using information about its history, culture, purpose and style (music, movement, costume, etc.)
All sources (books, articles, internet) need to be cited. Use quotation marks if you are quoting directly from the material. Be sure to read the material, analyze and synthesize it, and then put it into your own words. Keep the paper research based rather than a personal recollection of your experiences.
Discuss the culture, history, style and structure of the form.

- In what kind of society did the Hula form develop?
- What purpose did it originally serve?
- And what purpose does it serve now?
- Who dances, how do they learn?
- Where and when does the dance happen?
- What kinds of movements are done?
- What are the elements that surround the Hula dance?
- Music, costumes, theatres, performance spaces, etc?
Describe the form but you don't have to give specific step instructions, unless it helps to support a point about the nature of the form. You can add it as an extra part of the report. Pictures can also be included as an addition to the text but not in place of your written discussion.
