Heterolysis bond fission or Heterolytic

(i) In heterolysis bond, the covalent bond is broken in such a way that one species (that is., less electronegative) is deprived of its own electron, when the other substance gets both the electrons.
         
So formation of opposite charged particles occurs. In case of organic molecules, if positive charge is present on the carbon then cation is known as carbocation. If negative charge is exist on the carbon then anion is known as carbanion.

(ii) The segment that favors heterolysis is greater variation of electronegativities between A and B.

(iii) Functionality of the solution where heterolysis takes place is termed as heterolytic mechanism or ionic mechanism.

(iv) The energy requires for heterolysis is usually greater than that for homolysis because of electrostatic forces of attraction among the ions.
