Going with resources this week. So the assignment was to pick a country and discuss their resources. A quick rundown of what we have here; Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Malaysia have the world's largest tin deposits. Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam are rich with precious gems like rubies and sapphires. The Philippines sells a lot of pearls. The more renewable goods come from their tropical forests thanks to the mahogany and rubber trees, which are used for furniture and other manufactured goods. As expected in any Asian culture, the sea provides many resources like fish, shellfish, and plants. Based on fishing regulations and controlling the environment it can be renewable for a very long time.

Settling in on mining tin in Malaysia. Tin mining is one of the earliest types of mining in Malaysia and in 1979 it produced close to 63,000 tons of tin or about 31% of the world's tin output. Due to Brazil stepping up their tin mining and the declining cost of tin, Malaysia has slowed down tin mining. It is difficult to determine the amount of tin reserve left in Malaysia, or anywhere for that matter, but it seems the glory days of tin in Malaysia are coming to an end. The goal now is returning the dry mines back into an environmental friendly location again. Some have become Clearwater sanctuaries and others have become housing locations or resort destinations. They have proven that mining and the environment could coexist.
