GESM "Surrealism in France, Spain and Mexico"

LACMA visit, September 15, 2016

Objective: To learn more about Modern Art and the permanent collections at LACMA. Modern Art is housed on the second floor of the Ahmanson Building.

1. What exposure have you had to Modern Art, particularly from 1900-1938? Are you familiar with Picasso, Braque or the Cubist movement? Please elaborate.

2. Who is your favorite painter/sculptor regardless of period? Please explain.

During the visit:

Browse through the exhibit on the second floor of the Ahmanson Building. Choose a piece you find interesting/striking that was made between 1900 and 1938. Note the title, artist, materials and year it was made.

Describe the piece of art in your own words (colors, light/shadow, shapes, images, textures, etc) in 1-2 paragraphs.
