Gas Chromotography/ Orange oil experiment. Limonene (L) and internal Standard Anisole (A) Were used and needed to find the Wt% of L in a given orange oil sample.
In this experiment, a sample of cold-presses Valencia orange oil in n-hexane would be analyzed for it's limonene conetent.
The eperiments states that the solutions in this analysis require special care to avoid loses. The solvent n-hexane has a very low boiling point (69 C) L and A are both viotile.
What would happen if:
The n-hexane that the staff person used to prepare the L standard and the A standard for the Monday labs contained some n-pentane,
but the n-hexane used to prepare the O (unknow) solution was pure?
