For this paper, you will read a scenario and three articles in which the values and norms in the communicators' co-cultural groups (socioeconomic status, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, region, nationality, and politics) and/or key cultural values (individuals, collectivism; high-context, low-context; nurturing, achievement; power distance; uncertainty avoidance) are in conflict with one another. You will then write a 3-5 page paper (approximately 750-1000 words) in which you use the scenario, three articles, as well as your own specific experience to discuss/focus on analyzing cultural differences and its impact on intercultural communication.

Specific Steps:

- Read this scenario:
o Hay, M. Cameron. "Shame and Making Truth: The Social Repairs of Ethnographic Blunders." Being There: Learning to Live Cross-Culturally, edited by Sarah H. Davis and Melvin Konner, Harvard University Press, 2011, pp. 112-127
- Read these three articles:
o LeBaron, Michelle. "Culture and Conflict." Beyond Intractability, The Conflict Information Consortium, University of Colorado, July 2003, www.beyondintractability.org/essay/culture-conflict. Accessed 29 February 2016.
o Rasmussen, Louise. "Cross-Cultural Competence: Engage People from Any Culture." Global Cognition, 18 November 2015, www.globalcognition.org/cross-cultural-competence/. Accessed 06 Feb. 2016.
o Fuld, Leonard M. "Cross-Cultural Communication Takes More than Manners." Harvard Business Review, 01 August 2012, hbr.org/2012/08/cross-cultural-communication-takes-more. Access 3 March 2016.

References and Citation
When you use another person's words, ideas, or work in your paper, you must cite them. If you directly quote their work, you use quotation marks to signify this and give the page number, as well. If you are simply paraphrasing or borrowing from one (or more) person's work, you do not need quotation marks, but you still signify whose words you are using.
