For this final assignment, you are to write a letter to your state senator regarding an issue of your choice from either a topic that we looked at this term or from a larger, global topic. This letter is your opportunity to join a community discourse (conversation) about issues that not only affect our community, but also our world. This writing assignment will be in business letter format (note formatting below) and will not exceed one and a half page (this is not as easy as it sounds). To achieve success in this assignment, complete these parts:

Part 1 - Identify a problem that is important to you from the modules or from your personal choice. Acceptable examples could be the need for more gender-neutral bathroom access, coral bleaching, breastfeeding rights, or human trafficking. I do not want to see topics that are too large and generalized. For example, "we must stop global warming," or "gun control is needed," are not acceptable topics because they are way too broad of a topic; however, if you would like to write about a specific aspect of global warming, like coral bleaching, then that's certainly okay. If you're unsure, clear the topic with me.

Part 2 - After you have determined what problem you are going to discuss, consider an action or series of actions (perhaps a law even!) to present to your senator. Use an urgent and firm tone when writing. You will also want to make sure that you are using persuasion and argumentative structure. I will be looking for these things when I grade.

Part 3 - Write the letter in business letter format. This is going to require you to look up who our state senator is and their address
