Reflection Essay

In English 2010, we should know how to write in multiple genres. And we should made our essay appropriately adapt strategies of argumentation for a given writing situation, and appropriately adapt style and design for a given writing situation when we writing. Also, approach reading and research critically and rhetorically, choosing appropriate research strategies for a particular writing task is one of the most important part.

Through this course, when I need write a new essay, I should to follow these steps. First, conceive, draft, and revise many kinds of documents, and manage these processes independently. Secondly, cite sources appropriately for the writing situation, including using an academic system of citation with a high degree of proficiency. Then, understand and respond critically to a civic conversation and become a legitimate participant in that conversation. At last, Work collaboratively on writing tasks with other writers and edit their writing so that it contains a minimum of surface error.

This semester, the topic that our group chosen is about the disabled. All of group members thought that researching our chosen issue of people with disabilities because we feel deeply about equality, equal education, fair wages, employment, healthcare benefits, etc. and want these things for this group of people. Also , we believed that they should be treated as equals and not be discriminated against, treated differently, and get equal opportunities in life as the rest of us.Also, We would like to tell everyone that even people with disabilities may different from us in the physiological way, but as people, all of us are equal. They should get the same rights, equality of education and the right to work with us.

Be a member of the group, I chosen to talk about the welfare of disabled to be my subtopic.

One of the reason why I chosen this topic is I come from China. China as a developing country, I knew that our country has some defects about the welfare of disabled. So, I would like to comparison the difference of welfare between China and USA to investigate defects show in where and how we can improved. At the same time, I wanted to know the welfare of disabled is the welfare of disabled is conducive to elimination of discrimination, or it is one of the factors cause that discrimination. So I decided to write the welfare of disable in this semester.
During writing major writing assignment, I got some peer review from group members. All of them helped me a lot. Like what Lorna Garlitz said, " I realize that English is a second Language for YaJun, but I would recommend having some assistance polishing the English. That will clarify the the argument and enlighten the reader more. " I knew that english is my second language, but i used to not care about detail of the grammar, but I realized that Lorna is right, a revised essay can help readers understand more about what I would like to say. And in flayer assignment, she also told me that "not really sure what this one is about." Actually I like that flayer so much, but through that peer review, I knew that a succeed flayer is not only need looks good, but also need to tell others something.

Also, made a peer review can help me to improve my own writing. When I should to do a peer review, I always read a essay more careful than usual, and think about why I like or not like that essay, what is the reason, and what made that essay succeed. The more I thought, the more I realized, I knew more about what can i use in my essay, and what should I avoid. Knowing what I should do, and tell others how they did, I think it is the greatest strength as a peer reviewer. Sometimes I told members that "I think to do the commentary is perfect your topic, the activities for the disabled. Like what you say that commentary is an appropriate occasion when you comment, you can enjoy the own opinions. I really like what you before , looking forward to see your commentary" And if I really like that essay, I told them it is a great job and i like it so much. Because I think that emotionally my own expressive frankly is one of the most important part of peer review.

At least, I would like to talk about the process of my eportfolio. I decided to put the memoir and profile in my final e-portfolio. I like these two parts so much, and they can show the core of my topic of the whole semester. The profile, shows a disabled's truth about the welfare, and the memoir, shows that my own experience about bully disabled, and this is what we call for avoid.Interview and memoir are one hundred percent true, and it is what i want to show in my e-portfolio.
