Final Project

The quality of our relationships depends on the quality of our communication skills.

How can one express emotions in a healthy way?

Purpose:
1) To understand an interpersonal topic in greater depth

2) To expand on in-class knowledge

Project Proposal: A written proposal, one page in length, typed, double-spaced, proofread. The proposal should address the following ideas: 1) State the interpersonal topic (topic is appropriate for assignment). 2) State why you are interested in this topic. 3) State different search terms you found useful during our library research

4) State how you will organize your paper, what will be your main ideas? 5) State your research question that will guide your research.

Oral Presentation: The oral presentation should be delivered extemporaneously,

DO NOT READ STRAIGHT FROM YOUR PAPER. Tell us what your topic is, why you have chosen it and what you learned. You MUST display at least one visual aid. You MUST tell us who your sources are. No source citations equals plagiarism. Worth 20 points. FYI- You MUST be in attendance at the beginning of class. If you arrive late, you may lose your chance to present.

Research Paper: The research paper should be 4-5 pages in length, typed, double-spaced, proofread, and conform to MLA style of referencing. In other words, you need to cite sources in-text as well as attach a separate list of all sources. You must use a minimum of three sources, two scholarly journals from SIRS, PROQUEST, or PROJECT MUSE databases. You may use our textbook as a fourth source. BUT, do NOT simply summarize the textbook. Also, DO NOT organize your paper like the Lit Review where you separated each source. You should combine all your research and put it into a coherent, organized essay. The format of your paper should be as follows:

1) Title page, with title of project, students name, date, course name and time, instructors name.

2) An introduction begins in a general way before stating what your topic is, what your research question is, why you have chosen it, why your topic is important to interpersonal communication, and what main ideas you will discuss in your paper.

3) A body that blends all your sources into a coherent essay. Use facts from sources and use your own examples to support the facts. You should also state your personal experience and provide transitions from one idea to another.

4) A conclusion that summarizes the most significant findings, restates your research question, tells us what you learned, and a suggestion for where the research should go from here.

5) Provide a works cited page listing all sources used as well as any YouTube clips.
