This sentence doesn't seem to make sense to me the way I read it, so I'm trying to reword it. I'm trying to say how Pap in Huck Finn is an example of a common racist attitude that still continues to be shown by people back then even after slavery was abolished. This is for AP, so I'm also trying to keep the sentence from being simple English.

Huck's father is the most prominent example of a common racist attitude incessantly being portrayed by early Southerners, subsequent to the abolishment of slavery.
