English : Video Analysis

For this analysis your job is to watch 5 videos from a list of the bands listed below or 5 videos from the same band.

Option #1:

You will watch 1 video each from 5 different glam bands. Once you've done so you will analyze the videos as a group, using the characteristics below. You don't have to use all of the characteristics, just select the ones that you think are most evident in the collection you watched.

Option #2:

You will watch 5 videos from the same Glam band. In this case you will analyze the band's overall "persona" on video by using those characteristics listed below. Like Option #1, you don't have to use all of them, just those that are most appropriate.

Regardless of the option you choose you must select from the bands listed below. The analysis should be 1.5- pages long, at least, in Times New Roman or a similar font, double spaced in a 12 point font. Do not use Courier font. Be sure to support your work with examples from the videos and an explanation how they fit with your thesis. This analysis is due on Thursday, September 22.

The characteristics to choose from:

• The music
• Lyrics
• How the bands are portrayed
• Is there a story (and if so, how effective is it)
• Is there a message in the video-what is it? Is it well done-why or why not?
• Costumes, Hair, Makeup etc.

The Bands to choose from:

Twisted Sister, Poison, Vixen Motley Crue, Cinderella, Ratt, Danger Danger, Bullet Boys, Warrant, Winger, Autograph, Guns n' Roses Dokken. Quiet Riot, Kix and Stryper.
