Draw a force diagram for a baseball player who slows as he slides into the base?

Draw a force diagram for the specified object in each of the following situations. On the physical diagram, draw a dotted line around the object or objects included in your system.

Draw each of the forces acting on the object, making the length of each vector represent the magnitude of the force. Each force should be labeled using the system discussed in class.

Specifically each force should be labeled with a capital F, followed by a subscript which describes the type of force, followed by two subscripts which describes the "feeler" of the force and the "dealer" of the force.

Define your subscripts by indicating what letter you are using to represent the feeler and each of the dealers. Use a ruler! Draw forces in pencil.

Specify your sign conventions for the vertical and horizontal directions in the appropriate blanks.

Write the net force equations which indicate the net force on your system in both the horizontal and vertical dimensions.

In the blank to the right of the physical diagram, represent the object as a particle by drawing a dot in the middle of the blank.

5. Draw a force diagram for the bucket of water that is being raised from the well at a constant velocity.

6. Draw a force diagram for a skydiver who has just left the plane and is accelerating toward the ground.

7. Draw a force diagram for a skydiver who is descending at a constant velocity.

8. Draw a force diagram for the basketball in the middle of a free throw.

9. Draw a force diagram for a hurdler as she clears a hurdle.

10. Draw a force diagram for an airplane flying at a constant velocity in level flight.

11. Draw a force diagram for the water skier.

12. Sketch a force diagram for the person stretching.

13. Draw a force diagram for the sled. Note that the pull on the sled is at an angle.

14. Draw a force diagram for the ring that holds the three ropes together.
