Doing a TLC experiment with a non-polar mobile phase, and a polar stationary phase (silica gel), I was wondering why Salicylamide has a higher RF value than Acetylsalicylic acid considering Salicylamide has a very polar Amide group whereas Acetylsalicylic acid has a carboxylic acid group which are less polar than amides.
