Disciplines are defined and recognized by the academic journals in which research is published and the learned societies and academic departments or faculties to which their practitioners belong.

Citation and format styles are dictated by the academic discipline, or field of study, that uses them. In COLL100 we use APA Style which is typically applied to the disciplines of psychology, other social sciences, and the natural sciences.
