Critical Thinking Assignment

A man at a restaurant is served a meal comprising steamed rice, fried beef, and vegetables. Because the food does not taste spicy to him, he tries to 'spice it up' but while hastily picking up a container of spices from a tray of spices, he picks up the wrong one, then accidentally bumps his hand on the side of the table and ends up pouring about a teaspoon full of salt onto the food. He is accustomed to eating a lot of salt so the negative effect of the salt is no problem for his taste buds. He consumes the meals but then feels thirsty. However, due to an experience he had in drinking contaminated water some years ago, he decides he would not drink anything until he gets home. Ignoring nucleic acids, answer the questions below

1. Based on the information above. List the major food types (macromolecules) the man consumed at the restaurant.

2. Considering digestive tract and the processes that occur in each part, give a detailed description of the stages involved in the processing of the food and drink he consumed while in the mouth. Be careful to mention each the types of digestion that will occur there and the accessory organs/juices/enzymes that will be involved in the processing of the food in the mouth

3. Based on the answer given for question 1, list the accessory organs that will be involved in the synthesis of juices/enzymes etc needed in the processing of the food after it exits the mouth, and indicate which part of the food consumed it would be responsible for processing, and why?

For example, if someone ate food that contains beans which contains proteins, you would state (Accessory organ name) would synthesize X, which would (then name the process) because the beans in the food contains proteins

4. Based on your knowledge thus far, describe what the endocrine system and the kidney would do to maintain homeostasis, the amount man consumed that amount of salt and orange juice that the man consumed. Consider how he was feeling as well when answering this question.
