The cylinder is plunged in a constant-temperature bath maintained at 160 F. Around 45,000 cm3 of the gas, measured at 14.7 psia and 60 F is charged to the cylinder. The volume is reduced in the steps indicated below and the corresponding pressures are read with a dead-weight tester after temperature equilibrium is reached.
